For Attorneys

You already know what you should be doing. Let's figure out why you haven't — and what actually works.

Health coaching built around the realities of legal practice — by someone who lived them for 35 years.

I Know This World

The profession from the inside

I spent 35 years practicing law — workers' compensation and estate planning — before I became a health coach. I know this profession from the inside: the billable-hour pressure, the adrenaline that never fully switches off, the way "fine" becomes a permanent answer to "how are you." I lived it for three and a half decades while raising five children and telling myself that pushing harder was the same thing as taking care of myself. It wasn't.

I got sick after my second child was born — exhausted, achy, no real answers from conventional medicine. That's what sent me into functional medicine and root-cause thinking. But it's my years in practice that taught me something else: attorneys don't need another lecture about self-care. You've heard it. You know you should sleep more, move more, manage stress better. What you need is someone who understands you, and can work alongside you to help you navigate becoming who you want to be.

What if burnout isn't a personality flaw — it's a predictable outcome of how this profession is built?

When was the last time you finished a day and felt like you had something left?

What are you optimizing for — the next deadline, or the next decade?

You're not imagining it

If it feels like the profession itself is working against your health, that's not just a feeling.

  • Nearly half of attorneys say they're actively looking for a different job or open to one — and the number one reason isn't pay or prestige. It's work-related stress.
  • Less than half of law firms offer meaningful well-being support. Whatever changes you make, you're likely making them on your own.
  • The always-on culture isn't in your head either. A large share of attorneys point directly to constant connectivity — emails, messages, the expectation of being reachable — as a core driver of burnout.

None of this means something is wrong with you. It means the profession was built around a pace that isn't sustainable, and most of what you've been told to do about it — meditate more, sleep more, try harder — hasn't addressed why you haven't.

How I Think About Health Now

Health doesn't work like a legal brief

For most of my life, I approached everything — including my health — like a checklist. Eat the right foods. Exercise the right amount. Get the right labs. Check the boxes, and the outcome should follow. It's how I was trained to think for 35 years: identify the rule, follow the rule, get the result.

But health doesn't actually work like a legal brief. You can do everything “right” on paper and still not feel well — because what's often missing isn't another item for the list. It's the whole picture. How you feel day to day. What your thoughts are telling you, and whether you even believe change is possible. Who you're becoming through the process, not just what you're achieving at the end of it.

I used to think of health as something you arrive at by doing enough right things in a row. Now I understand it as something you build by integrating all of it — body, mind, and identity — together. The lab work matters. So does how you talk to yourself at 11pm when the plan falls apart. So does whether the changes you're making actually reflect who you want to be, not just who you think you're supposed to be.

That shift — from linear to whole-picture — is the foundation of how I coach.

You're caught between what the job demands and what your own life needs — and lately, there's been not enough left over for you.

That's the work I do now, grounded in functional medicine and Kristin Neff's self-compassion framework — built specifically around the realities of legal practice, not a generic wellness template. If you're an attorney who is excellent at your job and quietly running on fumes, this is exactly who I built this for.

The Thriving Lawyer

Know Yourself. Own Your Health. Love the Life You're Building.

The Thriving Lawyer is a 4-week small-group coaching program for attorneys — in any practice area, at any stage of practice — who are excellent at their jobs and quietly aware of what it's cost them.

Who this is for

This program is for attorneys — litigators, in-house counsel, solo practitioners, partners, associates, any practice area — who are succeeding by every outside measure and still feel it: a body that's been running on cortisol for years, an identity fused with billable hours, a nagging sense that being this good at the job has meant slowly disappearing from your own life.

If you've ever felt like a fraud despite the results, or wondered who you'd be without the job title, you're exactly who this program was built for.

What we'll do together

Four weeks, one connected arc, built around four pillars — Know Yourself, Take Stock, Vision Forward, Own Your Health. Each week comes with a short reflection and one task beforehand, so live session time goes straight to the parts that matter.

  • Week 1 — Know Yourself. Reconnect with your values, your signature strengths, and an identity that exists outside the practice of law. We'll name imposter syndrome directly — it's common in this profession, not a personal failing.
  • Week 2 — Take Stock. An honest inventory of where you actually are, professionally and personally — plus a clear look at what years of chronic high achievement actually does to your body.
  • Week 3 — Vision Forward. Self-compassion as the direct antidote to the inner critic that fuels imposter syndrome and perfectionism. From here, we build a real vision of thriving — not just succeeding.
  • Week 4 — Own Your Health. Sustainable functional medicine levers, brought together into a personal roadmap that's genuinely yours — for practicing law without disappearing in the process.

What makes this different

This is coaching, not lecturing, and it's built by someone who spent 35 years practicing law before becoming a health coach. You won't get a generic wellness worksheet. You'll get a room of peers who understand exactly what this profession demands — and four weeks to finally turn your own sharp, capable mind toward yourself.

Areas we'll explore together

Health isn't one dial to turn — it's several, working together. We'll look at whichever of these areas are asking for your attention, not because you need to fix everything at once, but because real change usually starts with just one or two.

Nutrition & Nourishment

What you eat, how you eat, and whether food is working for you or against you — beyond calories, toward what actually fuels your body.

Sleep & Rest

Not just hours in bed, but the quality of your rest and whether your body is getting the recovery it needs to function well.

Movement & Physical Activity

Building a relationship with movement that supports your energy and strength — sustainable, not punishing.

Stress Resilience & Nervous System Regulation

How your body responds to caseload pressure, and whether you can come back down from it — or stay activated long after the deadline has passed.

Relationships & Connection

The people in your life — and whether the profession is leaving you enough presence for the time with family and friends that fills you up.

Environment & Everyday Exposures

The often-overlooked factors in your home, food, and daily products that can add to your body's overall load.

Mindset & Self-Compassion

How you talk to yourself, especially when things aren't going perfectly — and whether that voice is helping you change or holding you back.

Purpose & Meaning

Whether your daily life feels connected to something that matters to you, or like it's just one task after another.

What would it look like to win the case and still recognize yourself at the end of it?
